We only stayed a night, arriving in a blizzard. It was absolutely stunning, the hot tub and sauna in the snow were simply breath-taking. We didn't even get a chance to check out Hvammstangi, unfortunately, but next time I will definitely stay here again!

We loved everything: the cottage, the view, the nice short talk with the owner, the aurora on our second evening!
The main restaurant at the village near the cottage is pricy but very good: save for it if needed, it is worth it (and needed as there is no kitchen in the cottage 😉).
The water could be ice cold at first, be patient, it will soon be (very) warm. Talk to the owner before your stay, it will explain the reason better than me!
One last point: the owner talked about a path to go to the shore of the fjord, but we didn't found it. Make sure he explain it to you clearly.

We stayed here for one night.
We stayed here for one night. We where a little concerned considering the remote area of the country. The owner greeted us very kindly and made us feel like at home. Once you step in you can feel the love she has put in to this place. I was really happy on how clean the house is. The bed limens where so clean and ironed. ♥️ the backyard was adorable. She had waffles for us and a home made jelly made. ♥️

Just a short walk out of town but far enough to be quiet and private. Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. Modern, clean and a very well equipped kitchen for guests. Host even threw a pot of coffee on in the morning. Full fjord view from our bedroom. Turned out to be one of our best overnights in Iceland.
This is a standard hostel, with some good and some not so good parts. Rooms were large and there was plenty of bathrooms, although they didn't smell to good. The bad part was the kitchen, which is too small for the number of guests, and didn't even have a pan. All in all not a terrible experience, but for sure the worst hostel we saw so far in the 7 days we spent in iceland, also considering value for money
Privately owned house in the middle of Icelandic nature. The host was very welcoming and showed us around his house. There is a big and well equipped kitchen which we could use and a living room/play area for kids. The place was very quiet and clean. The highlight of the stay was the two wild arctic fox pups, living on the farm area, which came out when you whistled and ran around your feet.
This guesthouse definitely has very basic facilities that haven’t been updated in several years but it seems that is what is mostly available in this area. The location couldn’t have been more convenient and the owner was extremely kind! We were easy walking distance to the water and the nice restaurant in town. We were able to access a hot plate to cook which was great.
This was our favourite place we stayed in whilst completing the ring road. The property was warm, spacious and clean. The property was in a good location near to Hvammstangi for food. The location of the property was great for seeing the Northern Lights (less light pollution than other places), but it would have been even better if nearby lights could be turned off.
This was second time on this hotel, the location is pretty good between Akureyri and Reykjavik for an overnight, worth a visit to the seal beach to check the seals, really cool during the "summer" and hvitserkur.
Breakfast is simple but good enough to get back to the road. A very good restaurant at walk distance, but make a reservation.
Nice little guesthouse. The heated floor is really nice and makes the place comfy and cosy. I just thought it lacked a little bit of a personal character as the owner was only seen in the morning after guests started to leave. Otherwise, it was just a nice place to stop. No interactions with staff etc. Clean and convenient though!
We loved everything about the cottage and the location. The surroundings were beautiful and serene with a view of the sea. The cottage inside was lovely: spacious and comfortable with pretty decor. The cottage was one of our two favorite overnight stays in our drive around the island. I wish we could've stayed longer.
Private home, very cozy. Host was exceptional. Let us do laundry overnight and made us an incredible homemade breakfast with baked bread. Nice shower. Rooms
were individual bedrooms in house. Had a nice outdoor patio area to hang out with hot tub and sauna. Got a taste of Iceland at this home.
The stay in the Laugarbakki Guesthouse was our best experience during our Island travel.
Everything was perfect: from the Key handover till the very last minute.
We can only recommend this Guesthouse to other travellers looking for some rest in a cozy place!
Cheers

The house itself is very unimpressive from the outside, but inside it was decorated with incredible attention to detail. Really cozy and by far the nicest and cleanest shared bathroom of our entire Iceland trip. We slept really good and the check-in is uncomplicated.
This guesthouse didn't look like much from the outside, but the location is perfect - close to Hvítserkur - which was why we booked it. Had nice rooms, looked like recently renovated bathroom, and a large kitchen. And was easy to find the place.
Tiny cabin with bunk beds for kids and sofa bed for two adults. Beautiful views of Hvammstangi cabins are just outside the village cosy one night stop for a family of four. Very clean. Basic kitchenette which was great as we were self catering.
There were two adorable dogs playing outside the dining room that charmed all the guests! The breakfast room located in a sunroom had lots of light and was very clean. The hotel was further off the road than we expected; that was nice.
No frills updated guesthouse in Hvammstangi. Check in was straightforward - just pick up the key with your name from the kitchen table. The room was cosy but sufficient for one person. The place looked clean and well kept.
The guesthouse is adequate. There's nothing spescial to say about it. The most important feature, is that the location was perfect for an overnight break according to our schedule.
Beautiful location on workings farm. Each room has its own sink. Easy check in. very kind owner. It’s an older home, but gives a real experience on living in Iceland.
